Sioux Legacy Martial Arts

_About Us

We take pride in being family-friendly and having both parents and children train with our experienced instructors. Students are able to train hands-on within a fun, safe learning environment while building lifelong skills and friendships. Martial arts classes are unique compared to traditional extracurricular activities and normal gym training. Taekwondo allows you to simultaneously build both independence and teamwork skills through sparring alongside peers.

Meet our Instructor

Here at Sioux Legacy Martial Arts, our Certified Instructor is the secret to our student success. Our instructor has a rich background in martial arts and is eager to train the next generation of martial artists.

Russell Knoeppel

I have been training in martial arts for over 20 years and am currently a Certified Instructor and 5th Degree within the American Taekwondo Association (ATA) which is the nation’s largest martial arts organization. I have been teaching family members of all ages for over 8 years under the mentorship of my instructor, 9th Degree and Grand Master Larry Hoover. When I opened Sioux Legacy Martial Arts, my mission was to continue his legacy of teaching the fundamental values and life skills vital for personal, professional growth, and development.

What is Songahm Taekwondo?

Songahm Taekwondo is the style of martial arts practiced by ATA Martial Arts students. The journey from White Belt to Black Belt (10 belts total) is one of incremental learning and skill development that students of any age and any fitness level can embark on.

Fun, Excitement & Preparation: ATA Martial Arts Tournaments

One of the most fun parts of martial arts training is the ability to test your skills by competing in a tournament. Tournaments are not only fun for competitors, but they also become a great social experience for parents as well! There are currently 130,000 ATA Martial Arts members worldwide. ATA Martial Arts students compete in local tournaments against other ATA schools, advancing from District levels to State levels, to a yearly Spring National competition in Las Vegas, NV. The competition winners gather at the ATA World Expo Tournament in Little Rock, AR in the summer, competing against finalists from all over the planet in one of the largest martial arts competitions in the world.
